ACTC鈥檚 TRIO Student Support Services program awarded $1.76 million federal grant

Published on Jul 17, 2025

果冻直播 (ACTC) is proud to announce that its TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program has been awarded continued federal funding from the US Department of Education. The grant totals $1,762,655 over the next five years, with $325,531 allocated annually from Sept. 1, 2025 to Aug. 31, 2030.

The grant allows ACTC to continue offering both personal and academic support services to students who are first generation college students, who come from low-income backgrounds, or students with disabilities. These students represent approximately 80% of ACTC鈥檚 student population, making the program鈥檚 impact on the college significant.

SSS offers services such as academic advising, tutoring, financial aid counseling, and transfer support. In addition, ACTC鈥檚 program offers a wide range of supplemental services like career counseling, leadership development, mentoring, stress management workshops, and service learning. These are delivered both in-person and online to accommodate students at various stages in their academic journey.

鈥淲e are extremely proud of the success of our program and the symbiotic relationship we have with our college faculty, staff, and leadership,鈥 said Megan Horne, ACTC Director of Program Facilitation, Student Support Services/TRIO and Transfer Initiatives. 鈥淲e have a tremendous amount of resources, including additional funding and facilities, dedicated to our SSS program so that we can do even more than our grant funding can afford and impact as many students as possible.鈥

The TRIO SSS program has been a part of ACTC for nearly 50 years, making it one of the oldest programs of its kind in the country.

鈥淲e are truly blessed to receive the continued support that we do at ACTC and we look forward to the next five years,鈥 said Horne.
